More about this role: Quality Systems/Continuous Improvement Leader
BASF's Middle Georgia site employs approximately 500 people who are distributed across four production plants and three milling operations covering 38,000 acres. The site mines, processes and distributes Kaolin to customers around the world.
This position is designed to ensure adherence to and continually improve all aspects of the Middle Georgia sites Quality Management System (QMS) and Responsible Care Management System (RCMS), and will embed a Lean / Six Sigma culture into the sites. Position will assist all departments across multiple sites in developing new or maintaining existing procedures and documentation to comply with current Quality and Responsible Care Management Systems requirements, will identify and lead operational excellence initiatives, and will provide awareness education, training and support as necessary on a variety of Lean / Six Sigma techniques. The Quality Systems / Continuous Improvement Leader will work closely with other Quality functions within the Business Unit to ensure consistency in procedures, documentation, auditing and reporting formats, and will represent Middle Georgia in Performance Chemicals (EV) Business Unit Quality initiatives.
Formula for Success: You Will be Responsible For...
: Ensure sites adherence to the latest version of ISOxxxx and RCMS Standards, and the underlying principles and philosophies behind it.
: Implement new processes and technologies through business improvement and Six Sigma initiatives aimed at improving the site's manufacturing and lab capabilities. This will include delivering specific improvement projects (engineering, reliability, safety, cost control, process control, and energy reduction) across the site.
: Work regularly and closely with other leaders (e.g. business, production, R and D, supply chain, engineering, etc.) across the site to institute best practices, identify areas for improvement and development, establish buy:in for operational excellence initiatives required to support the site's strategic agenda and drive meaningful change wherever required.
: NCM Coordinator for Middle Georgia sites, managing all aspects of internal, external and supplier non:conformances, including timely resolution and communication.
: Mentor and coach Lean/Six Sigma candidates toward completion and certification of improvement projects.
: Design procedures aimed at improving efficiencies, reducing cost and variability, eliminating waste, and improving safety standards.
: Coordinate and lead all aspects of Internal, External Registrar and Customer audits.
